This year’s Father’s Day sermon at my home church was particularly impactful for me. Pastor Brian outlined his “Keys to Successful Parenting.” As the title suggests, this sermon was targeted toward parents. However, I interpreted the sermon from my perspective as a young adult seeking to continually improve my relationship with my parents.  Instead of thinking of how my parents could improve, I thought of the sermon as “Keys to Successful Parent-Child Relationships”. The last time I worked out on a regular basis was probably in high school. I played volleyball and ran track pretty competitively. As a result, I was basically forced to do pretty hardcore workouts almost year-round for four years. He no longer wanted to be a prisoner to his addiction to alcohol. He told me that “it was time” to make a change in his life. However, as the days passed while he waited for placement at an inpatient drug rehabilitation facility, his determination was marred by anxiety. The veteran noted that he was looking forward to treatment, but he was also a bit nervous about the experience. He…
