As you may remember, in the midst of all the excitement of summer 2019, I purchased my first home! Somehow, in the craziness of graduating from medical school, helping to launch Concordia Estate Nature Park, and starting psychiatry residency, I closed on a condominium in Philadelphia. Because I like to set ridiculous goals, I thought that I would be able to decorate my entire condominium in two weeks LOL.
The time between my closing date and the start of residency proved to be much too short a time period to fully settle in. I didn’t even have a bed for the first month smh. Nonetheless, now that I’ve settled into life as a medical resident and a homeowner, I finally have some time to work on the final touches of décor in my condo!
If my Instagram page is any indicator, I LOVE color! I’m not one to shy away from blending as many colors as possible in my outfits. So, when it comes to décor, I’m not much different. I describe my personal décor aesthetic as transitional boho chic.
Transitional décor styles find a balance between modern and traditional pieces. Bohemian aesthetics favor the playful use of varying colors, patterns, and textures. Indoor plants also tend to be common in bohemian-inspired spaces. To me, my condo blends together these two elements – transitional and bohemian – in a way that makes me happy to spend a day lounging at home.
Yarn Wall Hanging
When it came to accent pieces for my walls, I knew that I wanted to use unique and cozy statement pieces. I spent hours scouring through Pinterest to find a feasible project that I could work on, despite my busy schedule. On the first search, yarn wall hangings quickly caught my eye. There’s something about a yarn wall hanging that embodies relaxation with a touch of perfectionism. In essence, the yarn wall hangings I saw on Pinterest felt like an artistic representation of my personality 😊
Some friends have asked me to make a yarn wall hanging for them! If you’re interested in having me make one, feel free to contact me. We can work together to find a style that works well for you!
Let me know in the comments if you think this would be a fun DIY project! And definitely share if you end up making something similar for yourself!
