Work From Home Bohemian Office

Working from home is a new way of life for many of us. We must now use or create new home offices to maintain productivity throughout the day. If you’re anything like me, you might not have enough space to dedicate an entire room as a home office. Thankfully, a wall or corner of a room is all you need to create a home office. I’m most productive when I feel calm and relaxed. My bohemian office space with bright tropical colors does just that!

I hope that you get some inspiration from my bohemian office space to create a comfortable and welcoming workspace of your own! Be sure to check out the affiliate links below the pictures to see where you can buy the items I used!

Choosing a Color Scheme

My office space is actually just the southernmost corner of my living room! When I chose the color scheme for the living room, my inspiration started with a painting that I loved. I found the painting at Home Goods and have since been unable to find a similar replica online. But these beautiful palm tree prints on Amazon have a similar look and feel.

Next, I went to Home Depot to buy wall paint, and I fell in love with Behr’s Antigua Blue. The color Azuresque by MicroBlend is pretty close to that color! I also knew that I wanted to have lots of live plants, so that’s how green entered the bohemian office color palette as well!

Bohemian Office Furniture

Some people will focus on ergonomics when buying home furniture, but that was not my priority. I wanted to make sure that I picked the furniture that I liked aesthetically. It was also important to me that the pieces were space-efficient and comfortable. (Comfort does not equal ergonomic FYI). I spent FOREVER looking for an affordable, white, corner desk. I was blessed to get this table second hand for $10!! What a steal!! I love the desk because it doesn’t take up a lot of space and it even has shelves below for additional storage! The green knobs on the drawer are a great touch that happens to go with my theme. As for the chair, I happened to have this green chair I bought on Wayfair at my parents’ house, so I just repurposed it. The green color was perfect to add to the bohemian office flair!

Table Top Accents for Bohemian Office

I wanted the desk of my bohemian office to be both inviting and practical. I use the edges of the desk to add a decorative flair while I keep the middle of the desk bare so that I can use my laptop and notebooks simultaneously.

From left to right on the desk, I have a practical, but cute, mail holder to keep my letters and important documents in one place. I’m a fan of creative bookends. You can see that I’ve used a bamboo plant and candle as bookends. My all-time favorite candle scent is vanilla lavender, but sometimes it’s nice to try other candles if only to add pops of color to contrast the wall paint. The lamp is a beautiful memento from a trip I took to Istanbul. In addition to adding a boho-chic element, the lamp allows me to reflect on the memorable trip while sitting at my desk. The desk organizer is super helpful for keeping all of my knickknacks and office supplies in a state of loose organization.

Creating a Separate Space for a Small Home Office

In creating a home office space, it was important for me to feel like the space was separate from my living room. Though proximity-wise, the desk is right next to my couch, I used elements like a vase, plants, and rug to help define the borders of the office. The mirror above the desk also helps to define the area of the office, while visually enlarging the space.

Beautiful office space. I like the idea of non-traditional bookends!

Thanks! They get the job done and I don’t have to spend money on “real” bookends!
